Gardenia candles are a natural and sustainable choice for creating a welcoming, fragrant, and comforting environment.
But all candles need some care to maintain their beauty and performance.
Learn about the most common situations that can occur during use — and how to easily prevent or resolve them .
Irregular burning (tunnel)
If the candle does not burn evenly, creating a "tunnel," it may be due to a burn time that is too short.
How to prevent it:
- For first use, leave the candle burning for 2 to 3 hours.
- Avoid extinguishing the candle before it has burned for 2 hours each time.
Irregular flame or smoke
If the flame flickers or smokes, the wick may be too long—or the candle may be in a drafty place.
How to prevent it:
- Keep the wick short (approx. 5 mm ).
- Burn the candle in a sheltered, wind-free location to ensure an even, smokeless flame.
Soot and darkened glass
Soot can form when a candle burns for too long or when the wick is too long.
How to prevent it:
- Trim the wick before lighting, leaving about 5 mm of height .
- Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time .
- Keep it away from drafts for a more stable and clean flame.
Broken or cracked glass
The container may crack if exposed to sudden temperature changes or if moved while still hot.
How to prevent it:
- Never move a lit or hot candle.
- Extinguish the candle when there is about 1 cm of wax left at the bottom.
- Keep it on a stable surface and away from drafts.
A fragrance that you can't smell.
In very large rooms, the scent may seem milder, especially if the candle is small.
How to boost your perfume:
- Choose a candle that is proportional to the size of the space .
- In larger areas, light two or more candles for a more intense and balanced diffusion.
